What is Import Export Code (IEC)?

The Import Export Code (IEC) is a 10-digit unique identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce. It is mandatory for any business or individual engaged in import or export of goods and services from India. Without IEC, customs clearance for imports and export benefits (MEIS, RoDTEP, etc.) cannot be availed.
